GDevelop Local Codex Edition is a community-maintained experimental build of the open-source GDevelop game engine. It adds a local Codex provider to GDevelop's existing AI chat and editor workflow.

The integration uses the official Codex authentication flow from the Codex desktop app or Codex CLI. It does not ask you to copy access tokens into GDevelop, and the renderer never receives your Codex credentials.

You can ask the AI to inspect your project, create or modify objects, manage behaviors and variables, place instances, create scenes, and generate GDevelop events. Project changes are applied through GDevelop's existing editor functions instead of allowing Codex to edit project files directly.

### Privacy and Local Data

- GDevelop does not read or store your Codex access token.

- Authentication is handled by the installed Codex application or CLI.

- Requests and the project context needed to complete them are sent through Codex using your authenticated account.

- Local AI conversations and generated-event records are stored on your computer.

- You can remove this data with **Clear local AI history** in the preflight panel.

- Local Codex mode does not send AI requests to GDevelop's Generation API.

### Important Notice

This is experimental software. AI-generated changes can be incomplete or incorrect. Back up your project before accepting large edits and review generated events before publishing your game.

This portable Windows build is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may display a warning when it is launched for the first time.
